Its really sad but true, Our mental Health system is a total utter failure here is Shasta County or so then any other place in California, the next place would be Yolo County Ca.. And because of it, Many people who are good people are misunderstood in the courts mistreated & misrepresented in the court of Shasta County. Shasta County would rather throw the mentally ill in jail or prisons instead of giving them counseling or medications. The jail & Prison are the Waste Lands of The Mentally Ill! We have recently came across a pretty server case of Mental health care Negligence here in Shasta County, We were reading our comments and came across a comment about racism and police brutality here in Shasta County.
This woman who's husband was incarcerated in October 2008 Because of not getting appropriate Mental care services, The family including in laws did everything they could to get help for the man. But no one cared or would listen, Law enforcement & Mental health clinic, etc.
It is a shame that this man had to be jailed for being mentally ill. The man dose not have a criminal record and was jailed three times in one week.

you would be appalled at how many people here in Shasta County have been victims of the court system because of being mentally ill and no one to help before they do something wrong.
Most of these people are sitting in jail or prisons.

My son has been dianosed with bipolar, severly emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, developementally delayed, and borderline retarded by a social security lawyer, some of this by 5 different schools, and 3 different group homes over his childhood. He is now 22 yrs old. Even with all of these diagnosis the Public Defender Ted Loose will no give my son a competency hearing to see if he a able to stand trial. He has trial rediness tomarrow. He has refused many times to not Even ask the Judge Curl if he can have one. When my son asked for a Marsden Hearing to change lawyers. Tedd stood up in front of the Judge and did not allow my son to state the reasons why he felt Ted was not representing him fairly. Things are moving along and My Son could face 4 yrs or more in Prison where he doesn't belong. His trial is supposed to start in 4 days. My son says Tedd tells him he is going to loose, and he better to take the Plea Bargin, but my son refuses. He says he didn't do what they are accusing him of. Since Lawyers want 10,000 just to start and 5,000 each court date + it doesn't look to good for my son. His name is Chebere Valdez. He has been in jail for 4 months already come the 5th of August. Ted refuses to allow witnesses against the girlfriend who was very physically abusive to him for the whole 1 1/2 they knew each other. He says that will just make him look like he did do the crime. Bullshit.
My son has court on 4th of August 2009 at 9:00. His name is Chebere Valdez. The two witnesses choosen to testify that day have lied to the DA, yet they are going to be the star witnesses. The charges against him I heard July 31st had been dropped yet they are still posted on his Custody sheet on the internet from the Shasta County jail? He is being judged by Judge Bigelo, I hear. please call 245-6789 to find out what department he will be in. I want witnesses to see this and he would like a news crew. We don't know if these witnesses are going to be allowed to testify against him or not. The public defender says that one of the witnesses has more she wants to say against him. How can this be allowed when she already tried to get him in trouble while he was in Jail, then changed her story. They should both be counted as incompetent witness since they both recanted their stories about Chebere, but we are scared. He could be let go that day, or charged with years in prison, or sent on to trial. My son has a list of mental and emotionally handicaps and sever learning disabilities. I'm very afraid for him. I don't know how he could survive a prison setting. Please be there to support me and my son August 4th 2009 at the Shasta Count Courthouse. I don't know which Dept yet. Be a witness to whether the courts will allow known fibbers to fib again about him. Maybe if enoth people are watching the right thing will be done.
Yes, my son does have court tomarrow August 4, 2009. His name is Chebere Valdez. Rm 10 at 10:00am. This should be interesting his girlfriend who's mother put him in jail, and his wife, they've actually been separated for 3 years. There is nothing funny about it really, but there should be a suprise that make both of them wonder why they came to accuse him. Please be there to support him. He yes has been diagnosed with Mental Health problems from the age of 6. He is now 22, and is doing much better. I still think he should be allowed a psychological evaluation for the court. He has asked for News people if anyone wants to do a story. He is in custody now at Shasta County Jail, West St, Redding, Ca 96001
I've seen redding poice beat my back neighbor down a few years ago. He didn't resist arrest. And afterwards they told al of us who saw it we had to sign a waver stating they did their jobs legally but I refused. They said that if we didn't sign it they would mess us the rest of us. The RPD should all loss their jobs because the truth is most of the drugs and prositution in redding is ran by them as well as the shasta sheriffs too.
